Because of its brass construction, the plug resists rust and mechanical wear. However, as with all brass parts:

• All fittings used for through-hull applications must be correctly electrically bonded to prevent electrolytic corrosion.

• Brass is susceptible to dezincification when exposed to highly corrosive or stagnant seawater conditions, so this plug is not recommended for below-waterline use in through-hull applications.
